Required Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 1–3 years of hands-on experience in IT helpdesk, desktop support, or junior system administration.
- Operating Systems: Strong operational knowledge of Windows 10/11, desktop Linux (Ubuntu), and basic Windows Server fundamentals (AD/DNS/DHCP).
- Identity & Software: Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), or Google Workspace administration.
- Networking Basics: Solid understanding of core networking concepts (TCP/IP, Subnets, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, Wi-Fi).
- Communication & Mindset: Strong customer-service attitude, clear verbal/written communication, and an eagerness to learn advanced cloud and network technologies under mentorship.
Role Overview
Key Responsibilities
End-User Support & Helpdesk Ticketing
Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for local and remote users via ticketing, phone, and in-person assistance.
Troubleshoot workstation hardware, operating systems (Windows 10/11, macOS, Ubuntu Linux), productivity software, and network connectivity issues.
Set up, configure, and maintain employee hardware (laptops, desktops, monitors, peripherals, and IP phones).
Log, track, and resolve user support requests according to defined SLA targets, escalating complex technical issues to the Senior IT Administrator when necessary.
User Lifecycle & Access Management
Handle routine user onboarding and offboarding tasks across Microsoft Entra ID / Active Directory and Google Workspace under supervised security protocols.
Assist in configuring Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), password resets, software license assignments, and access group permissions.
Assist the Senior IT Administrator in enforcing Just-In-Time (JIT) Authorization requests and maintaining access audit logs.
Server, Cloud & Web Hosting Assistance
Assist with routine Linux (Ubuntu) server maintenance, patch deployments, and basic cPanel / WHMCS administrative tasks under senior guidance.
Perform routine health checks, monitor disk usage, and verify automated database backups (MySQL / PostgreSQL) across local and AWS cloud environments.
Help maintain AWS staging/development instances, Basic EC2/LightSail provisioning, and security group rule additions as directed by senior staff.
Network & Telecom Support
Assist in deploying and physically installing office network hardware, including UniFi access points, switches, TP-Link/Grandstream equipment, and MikroTik router endpoints.
Provision and configure 3CX and Yeastar VoIP desk phones, softphones, extensions, and user call groups.
Perform basic network cabling, patch panel management, and local LAN troubleshooting (DHCP, DNS issues, Wi-Fi coverage).
ISMS, Hardware Asset & Documentation Support
Maintain an up-to-date hardware asset inventory, tracking laptop assignments, serial numbers, and retired equipment.
Assist in enforcing basic cybersecurity practices, workstation patch compliance, anti-virus deployments, and user security awareness training.
Document common support procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and user-facing self-help guides.
Preferred (Bonus) Qualifications
- Hands-on familiarity with Linux command-line tools (SSH, file permissions, systemctl).
- Basic exposure to cPanel/WHM, web hosting setups, or basic SQL queries.
- Certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Fundamentals (AZ-900 or MS-900), or Cisco CCST.
Standardised Compensation & Benefits Package
Base Salary Range: Entry-to-mid level junior rate commensurate with experience (N$ 180,000 – N$280,000 per annum).
